Mastodon was right. Linkding is a great bookmark manager.

A few weeks ago, I asked for recommendations for a good bookmark manager. On Mastodon, Linkding came out as the top suggestion. So while I gave all services that was mentioned a look, Linkding is the one I installed on my server. And I see no reason to not keep using it.
Its looks are simple, almost spartan. But its features are exactly what I needed:
- Dead simple to add bookmarks from all my devices, my phone included. (For my Apple Shortcut, I used Josh Dick’s as a starting point.)
- Fast!
- A really good tagging system where it’s easy to dive into my bookmark collection by adding or removing tags to my search query.
- Easy to integrate with n8n, something I use in two ways: To automatically add all links that I star in my RSS reader, and create short link posts for all bookmarks I tag with “toblog”. (The changes needed in Eleventy hasn’t been made yet, though, so they are still not to be found on my blog...)
- Archiving, which allows for separating “active” bookmarks from still relevant, but not immediately needed ones.
- Allows for sharing bookmarks both publicly and only with other users at my own Linkding server.
